At the time Home was made, I was obsessed with the idea of a house as an architectural representation of an individual psyche. Four walls and a roof containing preservational, nurturing, recuperative and transformational values that you don’t get in other spaces. Home was filmed over a year where days repeated themselves. I think the aim was to capture the momentary sounds, light and actions that filtered each day from the last, and the importance of those brief distortions. Not being able to put my finger on any particular existential anxiety from the time, I just remember the sense of limbo that made the sounds in the chimney and under the bath water important for some reason. This is the first time I have revisited it since it was made, it feels voyeuristic, like reading your own childhood writings or the video tapes in Michael Haneke’s, Caché.

Home is presented in collaboration with Composite: Moving Image Agency & Media Bank.
