Glenn Sloggett, Matthew Harris, Lilli Rae Lovegrove Mess package

Opening: Wednesday 12 April, 6-8pm Dates: 12 April – 6 May 2017

In the psychological textbook ‘Working with Children in Art Therapy’, Carol Sagar describes a tendency in the art of children and adolescents known as the “mess package” whereby the patient presents an odd accumulation of provisional materials bound together as a gift to the therapist, thought to represent a cathartic unburdening of latent trauma from one person to the next.

Glenn Sloggett has been exhibiting since the mid- 90’s.

Matthew Harris, born Wangaratta 1991, lives and works and in Melbourne. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions include ‘Matthew Harris / Katherine Huang’, Neon Parc, Melbourne; ‘Like sands through the hourglass’, Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, Bundoora; ‘Things’, Blindside, Melbourne and ’Lassie’, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne. Selected group exhibitions include ‘A Billion Bucks’ curated by Justin Hinder & Charlotte Cornish, The Honeymoon Suite; ‘Wink!’ curated by Donald Holt, Greenwood Street Projects; ‘Trash & Treasure’, Strange Neighbour and ’Synthetica’, Wangaratta Art Gallery. Matthew’s works are held in public and private collections throughout Australia.

Lilli Rae Lovegrove born in UK 1995 spent her formative years on the far north coast of NSW. In 2014 she commenced her Fine Art degree at VCA, Melbourne, where she currently resides. Lovegrove’s work employs mixed-media textile and sculptural installations to explore themes surrounding sentimentality through a whimsical nature.
