Tara Cook is a Melbourne based media artist, curator and former director of New Low. She is interested in better understanding our relationship with technology through artistic research, curatorship and practice. Her photographic, moving and interactive media artworks reflect on the self and the work of art in the digital age. Tara has shown nationally in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth, as well as internationally in China, Japan, Greece and Bulgaria. Tara is currently undertaking a PhD at VCA, University of Melbourne, and has recently returned from presenting a paper at The Third Transdisciplinary Imaging Conference at the Intersections of Art, Science and Culture, in Istanbul.

Yu Jin Seng is a Singaporean curator and writer, currently undertaking a PHD at the University of Melbourne. His research interests are in regional art histories, focusing on Southeast Asia, particularly diasporic communities, migration, and inter-cultural dialogue. His curatorial interests extend into the history of collectivism, the history of exhibitions that shape the modern, and conceptualism in Southeast Asia. Yu Jin has worked as Senior Curator, Southeast Asia Gallery at The National Art Gallery, Singapore, and also lectured in the Faculty of Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts. He was a co-curator of the 2013 Singapore Biennale, and has also curated exhibitions such as From Words to Pictures: Art During the Emergency, Affandi: A Painter of Genius, and co-curated Masriadi: Black is My Last Weapon, FX Harsono: Testimonies, and Cheong Soo Pieng: Bridging Worlds.

The ‘Put Up a Signal’ project began in 2013 as a multifaceted artist exchange project, exploring Indonesian and Australian screen-based art. Presented in partnership between Asialink Arts, Bus Projects and Ruang MES 56, theproject exploited the ease with which video, image, text and sound files can be shared across the world to create opportunities for richer collaboration and exchange.

In the first iteration, Bus Projects worked with Raung MES 56 and Asialink to curate a selection of works by Akiq AW (ID), Anggun Priambodo (ID), Emile Zile (AU), Eugenia Lim (AU), Greatest Hits (AU), Sean Peoples (AU), Muhammad Akbar (ID), M.R. Adytama Pranada a.k.a Charda (ID), Oliver van der Lugt (AU), Rowan McNaught (AU), Irwan Ahmett (ID) and Tristan Jalleh (AU).

In 2014, Bus Projects travels to Yogyakarta to present the second part of this project at Ruang MES 56.
