Hana Vasak Yesterday is not quite gone

Opening: Tuesday 19 April 6-8pm Dates: 19 April-6 May 2011

‘Yesterday is not quite gone’ is a video installation that looks at an element of human behaviour in relation to emotion and memory. The video is based on evoking the idea of the human experience that is wistful and plays on the idea of memory becoming the mind’s form of escapism.

The exploration into the ideas within the human experience express the nature of the memory playing a great significance, referring to the holding onto nostalgic moments and certain memories, the longing for the past, playing with the notion of a narrative, and the exaggeration of memory, the significance and the almost imaginary cravings. The video represents aspects of these elements, viewing them through the natural response of an individual experience. Hana Vasak was born in the Czech Republic, grew up in Sydney and now resides in Melbourne, Australia. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Art, Drawing at RMIT University. Hana’s work lies in the interest and provides exploration into the various elements of human behavior.
