Emile Zile is an artist, filmmaker and performer. Gesture, mimicry and the voice form a central core of his performance work. In re-using and re-encoding media broadcasts, communication protocols and online platforms his work reflects a distributed humanity, a yearning for transcendence and the limits of language.
Emile received a BFA degree from RMIT Media Arts Melbourne before relocating to Amsterdam in 2007 to commence an MFA degree at the Sandberg Institute. In 2012 he began a two year studio residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam. Exhibitions, screenings and performances in 2015/16 have included LIMA Amsterdam, Castrum Peregrini Amsterdam, Fort Delta Melbourne, Sydney Contemporary, Channels Festival Melbourne. He is currently programming the Experimenta Social series of talks for Experimenta Media Arts hosted at ACMI X.
