Ross Coulter, Study for a Building (i) (2015)

  • 297 x 420mm
  • Edition of 5 + AP, Pegasus Print
(Sold out)

Ross Coulter is currently a studio artist at Gertrude Contemporary. He has wanted to make objects and have some person interact with, in and around them while he takes photographs for a while now, but his ‘Audience’ series, (of photographs of people standing around an empty gallery, in which there is no art, watching a performance that doesn’t exist, in every gallery in Melbourne), has been taking most of his time. This fundraiser artwork is a similar idea to the work he submitted to the Seventh fundraiser (Study for a Building (ii) ). He has really enjoyed making this work. Study for a Building (i) is reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty hand holding the flame, emerging out of the sand in the film “Planet of the Apes”. Ross hopes to make more works developing ideas of sculpture, performance and photography in the future.
