Opening: Tuesday 25 October, 8pm Dates: 25 October 2011

HEILBRON|HANSEN|MCLEAN is an improvising trio based in Melbourne, Australia, working in the areas of sound-based improvisation and instrumental preparations. The group combines influences from noise, contemporary classical music, electronica and free jazz to create a fragile, constantly shifting sound world that is at once unsettled, agile, assertive and strangely beautiful.

The members of this group have appeared at the Melbourne International Arts Festival and Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Festival Impuls Graz, The Melbourne Jazz Fringe and Fringe Arts Festivals, as well as performances with Chamber Made Opera.

HEILBRON|HANSEN|MCLEAN is:
Jonathan Heilbron – Prepared Double Bass
Ida Duelund Hansen – Prepared Double Bass
James Mclean – Drumkit and Objects.

The evening will also feature a solo set from Melbourne prepared guitar artist DAVID BROWN and live visuals performed by PAUL RODGERS.

PAUL RODGERS has a comprehensive background in media arts site-specific installation, time based media & performance art practice in the UK, internationally and more recently in Australia, where he has been based for the last 12 years. From 2005 Paul Rodgers has worked under the name Arnold Eye Irons as a VJ artist at venues across Melbourne such as Kent St, Loop, St Jeromes and Revolver. Paul has presented film works and sonic kinetic machines for festivals and at institutions internationally such as ACMI, Liquid Architecture and the Tate Britain.
